Counselling in Totnes

Holistic, Integrative Counselling – Online or In-Person in Totnes

Sometimes we get to a point in our live where we have to concede that we can do all and solve it all ourselves. Life can become challenging and through curve balls  we may find ourselves feeling stuck or having a complex decisions or choices.

The  choice to seek therapeutic support can be a powerful step forward. The therapeutic space is a non judgemental, safe and objective space to work out internal dilemmas, unpick old and unhealthy pattens that are now causing us harm or to acknowledge and work with old traumas.

All of us at some point have these moments in time, and giving ourselves the space and time to Unpick, understand and navigate a way through in a healthy way is often the best thing we can do for ourselves and those around us.

Counselling in Totnes

Ultimately therapy is a journey of self discovery, self awareness and empowerment.

This doesn’t mean it won’t be messy or painful at times, but no journey of any value is easy and the work you put in will reap rewards down the line. Witnessing and experiencing your own transformation and be a powerful path to healing.

Therapists have been though their own journeys of darkness and self-discovery and so their role in this work is not to come up with solutions, but to sit along side you as you find your own way through and learn to navigate, regulate and trust yourself in your process. There is a common misconception that talking therapy is talking only. This is an old paradigm and with the work of great somatic therapists like Peter Levine and Gabore Mate the body mind connection  is widely acknowledged and worked with as a whole.

Qualifications:

Body oriented therapeutic techniques are widely used in my therapy room in Totnes as part of the process.

Personally in my counselling practice in Totnes, I’m drawing on many therapeutic techniques I have learned and embodied myself through years of practice and study which I know are very affective in supporting the therapeutic process. This often means that not only will our sessions have the potential for deep healing and enquiry, but you will also gain a toolbox of techniques for self regulation, support and wellbeing that can support you in your life going forward.

My intention is to get you to a place within yourself where you feel strong, whole and integrated and no longer need our sessions for support. This doesn’t mean you cannot come back. Mental/emotional health and well-being are like any health line – not linea. Life happens and sometimes we need more support or help to unpick something more that has come up.

This is totally okay and perfectly normal. My sessions offer a safe, grounded, welcoming, non-judgmental and empathetic space for you to show up just as you are.

The most important aspect of this work is the client/therapist relationship

It is important that you find a therapist that resonates for you, Like any human relationship some will resonate and some will not. What is important is that it feels right for you. I offer an ‘integrative’ approach to therapy.

This means that I will draw from different therapeutic techniques to support the work we do together. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. The goal is to support you in finding your own answers, solutions and methods through a collaborative, dynamic and meaningful therapeutic journey.

I work with a range of life challenges including, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, PTSD, grief, relationships issues, domestic abuse, stuckness, trauma, loneliness, low self esteem, stress, social anxiety and more. If there is something specific we can chat about that in our initial consultation.

I work in accordance with the NCS Ethical Principles & Code of Professional Conduct. My work is conducted under supervision by an experienced, accredited supervisor.
